Assignment #10 & 11

(Due no later than Wednesday, November 26^th – This is the last class day before Thanksgiving, so you can complete both assignments, your paper and have a Happy Thanksgiving.)

Reading Assignment:

Chapter 20, The Age of the Masses and the Zenith of Modernism 1914-1945, pages 617-653

Chapter 21, The Age of Anxiety and Late Modernism 1945-1970, pages 663-691

Assignment Details:

Rent both the 2002 film, Frida, starring Salma Hayak (Assignment 10), and the 2000 film, Pollock, starring Ed Harris (Assignment 11).

- Identify 5 facts about the artist’s life

- Describe the artist’s painting style. How is it similar or different to the Impressionists?

- Describe how their art represents the Modernist style.

- Briefly describe how the World Wars impacted the painter’s art.

Point value: 15 points each; graded on completion of assignment, which means fully answering all of the above. Absolutely no late assignments will be accepted.
